# Collection sorting

When activated, a drop-down list of sort options is displayed in the collections sidebar. Customers can choose to view products with various sort options including Featured, Best Selling, ascending and descending options for Alphabetically, by Date and Price.&#x20;

### Default sort order

The default sort order for each collection is set in your Shopify Admin under Collections. You can set the default sort order by using the drop-down and setting your preference:

### Custom sort order

To customize the order in which products are displayed when viewing a collection, simply change the default sort order to **Manually**:

Manually sort is displayed as **Featured** in the theme, the word ***Manually*** is not shown to customers.  Customers can enable or disable collection sorting in the theme settings:
